Ah, I see. Thanks a bunch for replying anyway 😄 Would be fun to one day learn where secret phrases like "This is not a contest." came from. There's also this silly audio file in Outlook 97's 1st Early Test Release, not referenced anywhere in code as far as I can tell.

Additionally if you hold Shift while you press Search you enable a couple more animations like selection boxes around the small icons.

With such a convoluted activation sequence I'm not surprised that there are no obvious traces of the Easter egg even now, 29 years later. The comments Clippit provides are a cherry on top.

Reading @stevesi.xyz's amazing posts about Office 97's development got me wondering.. could there be more fun stuff hiding under the hood that nobody found yet? Yessir! There's a whole developer credits sequence incl. commentary from Clippit that starts 1 minute in. Take a look! 📹📎

Of course, I respect that. I was mostly curious about the original vision of (surface exposed) Strongholds. Were they created with dimension travel in mind from the start? The magical blue portal textures in B1.9 pre3 made me wonder if this was originally a way to get to the Sky in B1.7 development.

Working towards getting Recall working on pre-Copilot+ ARM64 hardware again, making steady progress. A good chunk of the shell now considers my 8cx Dev Kit as eligible 🧩

Windows 11 will be getting an energy usage graph to complement the existing battery level graph ⚡🔋📊

The feature is still in early development w/ battery level data being used for both graphs. The design is already a little different though 🖌️

For some strange reason an hourglass icon ⏳ now exists on this page. Maybe they want to replace the leaf and fill up the hourglass instead as you apply more recommendations?

Configuring default apps is getting an overhaul. It's a mess of placeholders and broken viewmodels at the moment, all very early.

Placeholder page for what will eventually become Windows Intelligence settings. Should let you toggle WI system-wide, then user-wide, as well as browse recent activities that tapped into WI resources.

Hand-off in the taskbar? 👀

Managed to enable the Settings UI / entry point for this ✨

Well this is a bit of a break-through (sort of)
AoW running on Windows 10 RS2, the same base release as the final version of Windows 10 Mobile

The implications 👀

It's the page fault kind of afternoon

AoW running on RS1 x86 is now a reality 😁
It's fairly hacky at the moment but a promising start nonetheless

Continuing my Android on Windows exploration journey, here is AoW (x86) working on RS1 build 11105! 😊 This is the very first build to support registering Pico/Lx providers again after TH2 build 10575 which turned the PsRegisterPicoProvider API into a dead end.

I was able to get Recall working on this bad boy 😎
Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3, 3.4 GB of RAM, no NPU in sight

Will cook up a tutorial soon, it's surprisingly good even on something this low spec 😊 If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them ✍️

Text in this preview build suggests that the "AI Explorer" umbrella term may not be used publicly after all. ✨😮 The page for tweaking privacy settings of the new AI smarts is simply called "Recall and snapshots." Guess they want to highlight individual features instead.🤔

Another piece of new-ish functionality in Settings is the ability to ask Copilot ✨ for help in case the inbox database has no result for your query 🔍
In case you don't have the option yet and would like to use it, enable feature ID 49445394

It's time for the Start menu to become extensible! ✨
Windows 11 β build 26212 quietly introduces support for "Start Menu Companions." They're apps that provide Adaptive Cards which display on a floating island (docked ⬅️ or ➡️) alongside Start.
Used Widgets data as a quick demo 😊

Lastly, "Enable smart notification filtering during standard business hours" is the newest improvement coming to Notifications in the near(?) future. No insight on what this smart filtering really does, guess we'll see 🤔💭

In a surprising twist of events, the upcoming wallpaper depth effects are no longer advertised as powered by AI. (Second picture is the same Settings page a few months ago)
