No one could convince me that if a shutdown creates a win for Trump, he wouldn’t find a way to get that vote to fail. The public voting base doesn’t remember past about a week, maybe a month for some really ugly stuff.

I was willing to listen to Schumer, and I think I gave him a fair shot, but to suggest that the Repubs or at least Trump, actually wanted or would become superpowered by a shutdown, it begs the question; why wouldn’t they just let it happen? Trump couldn’t rally enough Senators to downvote?

To be successful at the game requires either bracing yourself and proclaiming that you are a brave person, then going for the thing. Or, you can learn and internalize that Subnautica is a study in controlled, progressive fear… but you loose the magic of the game then.

That man wanted a ride, not ammo for his argument. Shame Kansas didn’t remember a decade ago when they had their big Republican experiment with “cutting waste” and had a huge exodus of teachers. Keep electing those Rs for low taxes; nothing wrong with running the US like your supervisor runs you.

Again, why would the EU, NATO, or the US allow a power that has demonstrated itself to be in opposition to them, take such a vital resource? If they wipe this one factory, everyone gets to try to make their own, and China hasn’t shown a willingness to do that yet.

Interesting video. I had at least surface level of most of it, though the combo of inputs is a little surprising. Doesn’t change my opinion that if a near peer opposition power could take a resource (any) and gain a step up, that any other power can and will either stop them or remove the resource.

I’m only talking about a final scorched earth solution, not a first strike. If nations that see China as a threat see no option to keep Taiwan from China, you don’t think zeroing out chip production would be an option?
March 1, 2025 at 5:00 AM
Okay, so what country(s) are willing to align with China, that could stop the US or NATO forces from some specific and known targets? That allied force has to be able to stop cruise missiles launched from subs/surface/air. Those allies also have to be willing for China to control the chip plants.

Watched the video, saw the tantrum and the begging for praise, and really thought that was the low. Saw an extended video, where Trump found his new very good people on both sides moment: I understand (Zelensky’s) hatred, but Putin doesn’t like him (Z) much either. See, you can both sides anything.

Of course he was willing to put up with an entire plate of crap from the one who’ll decide how hard a path his people will have. There’s still a small chance Trump will flip again; he does like to talk tough then roll over - like in almost every civil suit he’s been in.

The second is ruined by minimal destruction, so China cannot bomb them flat and gain anything. In addition, if it’s going bad enough, Taiwan or it’s allies may spoil China’s prize by destroying their own facilities.

As far as China vs US, please point to the naval actions China has been in?
March 1, 2025 at 1:29 AM
What do you possibly base that on? We’re not talking about all our, burn the planet war, “just” limited war around an island, with only 2 benefits to China; 1- becoming “Unified” 2- gaining the chip making capabilities. The first has some benefit to national pride…

Taiwan has no other serious ally that would be ready & willing to take on China without US participation. While Australia and Japan would likely be willing to assist, neither would be able to project enough sea power against a serious China. If the US had already dismissed Art5, why trust the US?

Zelenskyy and Ukraine will have a chance if Trump only stops aid and rejects NATO. If he can keep Europe pressured without alienating them with tariffs, and get them to also stop Ukraine aid, then Ukraine will have to move towards a different type of war.

In fairness to Rubio, I understand that he can’t talk while sucking that hard, but it is impressive he could type while his hands are so firmly gripped on the orange ass cheeks.

I’m willing to bet that the lobbying against any tax on the wealthy will be well beyond 5 years of the proposed tax.

Totally far and away from Elden Ring, but Cloudpunk is a sweet little solo game for a week or so.

It’d almost make me believe Trump’s administration was pulling down Divine Wrath upon the country.

…but when they break their own rules they should at least give it a nod that this new thing is different. If they don’t, my willingness to allow for their handwaves goes down.
December 7, 2024 at 4:00 AM
Even as the Discworld evolved and added those groups, they all had their rules for their type of magic. When you say no rules, I imagine reality without causation, not just that the author didn’t explain every detail. I’m happy to give a fiction it’s handwaves…

I’ve started 3 responses, but am shorting out on no rules. On the other hand, Pratchett’s “Sourcery” had the only example I can think of with Wizards (with rules) and a Sourcerer- a person with no rules who eventually makes their own universe and goes away, because why wouldn’t you?
December 6, 2024 at 7:09 AM
So obviously you’re against the constitutional use of the presidential pardon, recently fully endorsed by the Supreme Court, including tipping afterwards, as is only reasonable. Or do you think one side should play with imaginary rules that the other side doesn’t? Paged through Trump’s pardons?

Make an offer for all of Elon’s cash, stocks, options, and equity- with no restrictions on future use, of course. Fund every project you care about, while volunteering time if you care to. I’m confident that money could be put to better use than pissing on twitter or buying Dungeons & Dragons.
December 1, 2024 at 8:22 AM
Simple answer is that you’re spending your time- why would you care what anyone else thinks, other than maybe a loved one who’s gaming with you. Your time, your way to spend it. If you choose to challenge yourself go for it. If not, literally no one will know/care.
