Like you could see several bits that were almost designed to be video game levels. Just in case. So many movies of that era have completely unnecessary shots of things flying towards the camera, and I remember us saying at the time "this ain't gonna age well". And lo.

National Lampoons: 0 stars. Only watched it all to *have* seen it.
Polar Express: 3 stars. Dated badly (ooooh 3d!) but nice, some great aspects.
Elf: 4 stars, a little schmaltzy, but made me actually laugh several times, which is really something.

Really enjoyed Elf! Funny, gentle, with a lot of heart.
It took me so long to watch it because...I don't tend to get on with comedy, as it's so often mean-spirited. This wasn't.
Elf's kind of like Mannequin crossed with Big, and Will Ferrell went all-in, much like Michael Caine with the Muppets.

Really enjoyed Elf! Funny, gentle, with a lot of heart.

All the orchestral pieces from The Polar Express are great, and the movie as a whole was nice enough, good mocap, Tom Hanks doing the most 👍🏻

Perhaps I'll watch Scrooged again, to see if my opinion has changed with the greater understanding of nuance that growing up (apparently) brings?
