The big Like a Dragon/Yakuza megathread is still a ways off but I gotta say, Infinite Wealth having this in the first hour is a very strong statement of intent. RPG needs fishing? This game has you covered And More.

yeah that's about right. Can we please get some endgame content dlc for Dragon's Dogma 2? I'll settle for even just a hard mode honestly.

The other game I need to talk about that I was beating around the bush with is this very-not-for-everyone RPG for the PSP, Fate/Extra CCC. This game brought me to tears. I pin a fair amount of me having realized I was a trans woman to having played through this and seeing multiple endings.

PSO2. What is there to say about this? I played it[albeit somewhat on and off in ep 5-6] since the open beta test in 2012. I don't think I will ever have another experience with a video game like I had with this one. It changed my life forever.

Devil May Cry! I think DMC3 and 5 are probably better games than it, but this game completely blew me away when it came out in a way few games ever have. Huge influence on my 3D action game preferences. Stylish and completely unlike anything the PS1 or the N64 offered.

Dragon Quest III! An astounding achievement for an NES game and one of the classics of the genre for a good reason. The pacing gets a little weird when you need to go find the orbs, that's the only complaint I have about this otherwise fantastic game.

Final Fantasy V! FF6 may have helped get me into RPGs in the first place, but this is the one I like the most of the SNES trilogy. The story is a little thin but what's there is charming, and the job system lends itself to endless replayability.

Armored Core! A certified mech action game classic, we wouldn't have countless other good robot games without this one. Still what I most associate From Software with.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood! My favorite classic-style Castlevania. Slick, unbelievably pretty for its hardware, stylish as all get out and even has two characters for extra replay value.

Super Robot Wars OG! A staggeringly ridiculous collection of two remakes of a pair of GBA strategy RPGs. I loved these games most when they had a good balance between Cool Robot and gameplay design, the later games in the series have been a bit too simple IMO. [still put like 80+ hours into 30 tho]
