May your hope be strong and ever present. May your axe smash through barriers, clearing the way for those behind you. May it give you the strength to stand strong against oppression. May it give you something to lean on, so that you may rest during your fight for justice.

People haven't just forgotten how, but they don't realize how powerful it is. I think the memory is reawakening though, and Indigenous people definitely deserve some of the credit.

The flight attendants stopped playing nice and turned their legal strike to a wildcat strike when they defied the Minister's orders, and it worked. So, no, workers aren't going to play nice no matter what. We just saw proof of that and how effective it can be.

We're not cooked yet, but we might be frogs in a pot of hot water. Ppl are feeling the heat rise, but have forgotten how to organize and pull each other out of the water. I just hope we can help them figure it out before we all drown in debt or get boiled by climate change.

You're anger should be at AirCan for not paying for all worked hours. CUPE offered to help facilitate a smooth transition into the strike & AC refused help, & left its own passengers stranded. You should be made that the gov't forces ppl back to work at all, not mad that CUPE is opposes the decision

Yup, rights aren't given: they're exercised. If you have to ask you don't have them. You get them by acting like you already have them. I would fully support the attendants staying on strike. I would support attendants from other airlines joining them. No more government union busting

My expectations for this gov't were on the floor, and all they've shown that that was still to high. I don't know what they expect to have if they eliminate legal strikes as a viable negotiation tactic. Workers aren't going to keep playing nice forever.

Hadju, you claim to care about families, but what about the flight attendants' families. The next time an AirCan plane flips over, who do you want running the evac, well-rested, properly fed flight crew, or exhausted, overworked hungry flight crew? Because your actions say that you want the latter.

This is an affront to all workers and shows how little our gov't truly cares for us. Instead ending strikes, the government should focus on why there are so many strikes in the first place. If employers won't look out for us, and the government won't look out for us, then we have to look out for us.

Guelph is not alone in its frustrations over this levy. Over the last 10+ years, municipalities across ON have asked the Province to raise the levy. The Province has yet to budge. It's time for the Gov't of ON to stop forcing municipalities to subsidize its institutions. It's time to raise the levy.

The current rate of $75 per head/bed was set in 1987. When adjusted to inflation, the modern rate should be $180 per head/bed. In 2023 alone, this discrepancy cost the City of Guelph $2.39M. And, that doesn't even include the accumulated cost of 37 years of a stagnant levy payment.

The "Heads and Beds" levy is a payment in lieu of taxes that provincial institutions pay to municipalities instead of property taxes. "Heads" are full-time students attending a public college/university. "Beds" are hospital beds.

Really just goes to show that "terrorist" is just code for "government scapegoat". It tells you nothing about the people the label is applied. It does tell you about a government's priorities, which is why it's applied so liberally to groups calling for freedom and liberation.

I think I saw it in passing and was so over this BS that I didn't look into it further at the time. I hope that doesn't pull the NDP even closer to the centre. This just shows that the "centre" is more like right-lite. We need a proper left flank to show people a viable alternative to this nonsense.

Agreed, his ties to Harper were an early red flag. His first cabinet was more like a matadors cape, big, red, and waving. Canada ran towards it and now we're meeting the blade on the other side.

Carney's ties to Harper concerned me as soon as ran for the leadership, but I didn't expect such direct attacks on gender equality.

To the OHL, I'll tell you how you improve compliance. Tie their eligibility for the playoffs to their completion of the correct training. Not trained? No playoffs.
