put another way - I enjoy wargames, but I would never tell someone how they are “supposed to feel” about wargaming. I will say though that as soon as your first turn begins you are no longer in “what actually happened”, you are in a plausible fantasy based on a real situation.

only you can say for yourself what feels wrong or not. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with it, like some sort of universal gaming morality that applies to history but doesn’t apply to fantasy. but if you’re personally put off, then you are. you know?
