Did the Roger McNamee I associate with Moonalice go to Yale? Someone by that name reviewed JGB in Woolsey Hall from 10/22/75 in the Yale Daily News.

Or this?

Gelzinis, Peter. 1974. Jerry Garcia of 'Dead' Very Much Alive. Boston Herald American, November 13, 1974, p. unk. I know the full text is at deadsources.blogspot.com/2012/12/nove..., but I like the real McCoy when possible.

Any collectors of Grateful Dead ephemera or data have access to this?

Gehr, Richard. 19871027. Leading Man: Jerry Garcia. Village Voice 32 (October 27, 1987): 88.

Mostly. Here's JG in 1988, asked about the 60s: DF:

The Grateful Dead got started at a time when rock bands were getting political. How do you feel about bringing politics into music?

Garcia: That always used to scare me. Uh, its tough when a musician...when somebody takes a topical stand ...

Weitzman 1976 p17: "My framework politically is like, I'm into a completely free, wide-open, total anarchy space. That's what I want. Obviously I'm not going to be able to sell that to anybody. It's like a non-flag. If I have a flag to wave, it's a non-flag."

Here come some Jerry quotes, with citations:

Asked about politics in 3/70: "the thing that I do is play music. The rest –you know—I just try to avoid the rest of it" such as politics. Jackson 19700722, 43

#Beatles #Deadheads The 104-seat Matrix in SF's Marina District is known to many because the proprietors recorded lots of performances and tried to run a little record company. Here's one of them pitching a "John Lennon and Friends" session! d22bxe50bj7b5p.cloudfront.net/54sz0b96bg2a...

At @corry342.bsky.social 's LLD, someone noted that while Keith and Donna Godchaux and Kingfish were running around the East Coast in November 1975, rumors of Garcia showing up were rampant. shorturl.at/iur0l

Here's a contemporary piece confirming that!

The Saunders-Garcia tape that travels as "7/21/74" is actually from 1/21/75. Tony Saunders on bass, and the legendary funk master Gaylord Birch on drums. Rex wrote a funny 1 (looks like a 7) and did the start of year thing with 74 instead of 75. jerrybase.com/events/19750...

Ol Jer went down to MGM studios TDI 1970 to lay down his "love scene improvisations" for Antonioni's Zabriskie Point. jerrybase.com/events/19700.... MG wanted the money for downpayment on a house, and when the check never arrived Lenny Hart's perfidious embezzlement was discovered.

Here's a scan of the band itinerary for this night. Besides the Betty Boards, the storage auctions included further trunks full of mementos, documents, etc. This comes from a set of images that briefly flashed into the world like 20 years ago IIRC.
