Hmm don't like the sound of that

For better or worse (well mostly worse actually) the UK/Europe doesn't have free speech as ingrained into their culture like America does.

Which is part of why there hasn't been as much outrage over this stuff.
July 13, 2025 at 8:40 AM
I disagree. The Mueller discourse was Dems trying to wishcast some sort of career ending bombshell out of nowhere.

This stuff is more like dogpiling on Trump over a negative media cycle. No Dems are expecting something big being released soon like they were during the Mueller arc.

Somehow Elon will manage to fumble anyway despite getting handed this whole constituency on a silver platter to him
July 13, 2025 at 4:00 AM
The Epstein issue seems to resonate a lot with low social trust/typically less politically engaged people.

Which is why it seems surprisingly bigger than expected to politically engaged spaces like this one because it targets an audience that usually isn't easy to reach politically.

Unless something like a recession happens I think Trump 2.0's popularity is more likely to be taken down "death by a thousand cuts" style rather than by a single incredibly damaging event.

Boise is not rural or small town. It's the biggest city/metro in Idaho.

We're talking actual genuine rural places not mid-sized metros. Most rural/small town places are deep red. Main exceptions are rural black, latino, New England, some college towns, and touristy areas.
July 12, 2025 at 5:04 AM
That's part of why a lot of rural/small town America have remained so deep red. The people with relatively reasonable politics leave at some point, so you're left with the diehard conservatives.
July 11, 2025 at 3:35 AM
One thing to consider is that the type of rural voters that are most likely vote against the GOP over this stuff are also likely the type of rural people to just leave for metro areas when things go to shit.

1. Moderating on everything isn't a good idea. For example, Dems obviously shouldn't moderate on abortion

2. Progressives can also benefit from this. For example Bernie being more moderate on immigration/guns in 2016 was part of why he polled better than Hillary
July 11, 2025 at 3:15 AM
Imo I think that moderating on some key issues is very helpful for overperforming but
July 11, 2025 at 3:12 AM
I'd argue Kiggans is more vulnerable than him but ideally both of them get destroyed by the Dems next year
July 11, 2025 at 3:06 AM
If it gets to this point then the big question will be if the tariffs survive the court system since the case against the reciprocal tariffs is slowly going through it right now.
July 11, 2025 at 1:34 AM
Nah even with the current political dynamics I still think the economy is an important factor.

But there's also still 3 and a half years left in his presidency, so even if the economy is still chugging along rn things could look different later on.
July 11, 2025 at 12:24 AM
It might actually be bad for Dems if Miller-Meeks retires so hopefully she doesn't lol
July 10, 2025 at 11:53 PM
To be fair, couldn't it be possible that the economy would be doing even better right now had he not done all the tariff stuff?
July 10, 2025 at 11:49 PM
Normally I would agree her age isn't ideal but the most important thing first is defeating Collins. Mills may be the current best option for Dems.

Plus if Maine Dems keep the governor's mansion then in the event Mills need to resign suddenly it won't be a big issue.
July 9, 2025 at 12:44 AM
True they can be a good distraction at least.

Watching the NYC primary was a fun break away from seeing the Trump administration find new ways to be evil lol
July 9, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Tbh it might be best for Brown to run for Governor instead. The Ohio senate seat is a special that will be up again in 2 years from now. Dems holding OH-Gov would help with redistricting in 2030.
July 9, 2025 at 12:36 AM
Perfect time to say once again that American election campaign seasons are extremely fucking long.

Most other countries do this shit in less than two months or even just one lol
July 9, 2025 at 12:32 AM
The question is how can the Dems when they're in power reform the Supreme Court in a way that's constitutional and sufficient?

I can see how packing the courts can make things worse, but it's gained popularity among Dems since it's easy to implement (constitutional).
July 8, 2025 at 7:51 AM
Lol Malaysia was only at 24% on Liberation day. Now it's 25%. It got higher somehow.
July 7, 2025 at 7:59 PM
What exactly did he say about McAuliffe and Stoney?

Because tbf it's not like there aren't any reasons for Dems to dislike those two. McAuliffe fumbled 2021, and Stoney became very unpopular by the end of his tenure of Mayor of Richmond (which is why he got destroyed in the primary there this year)
July 7, 2025 at 6:47 AM
Tbh as far as headlines go this isn't that bad.

I've seen far worse headlines from NYT, which says a lot about them.
July 7, 2025 at 2:51 AM
There are only like 10 Americans who are scared of BRICS and somehow one of them is the president.
