The grocery bill isn't helping the situation.

IMHO, the people/ mental-health aspect of it is something that requires more attention/discussion. I don't have the answer for this. But the people are more important than the work. The research/scientific work will eventually recover as it usually does.

I'm sure you had an experience where you got to a place and perceived it rotated and once you recognized the place your brain 'rotated' it to align to your first perception of the place? Would my perception of this same place align to your first perception or second? Food for thought :)

Gets even weirder; map the same line of thought against East/West/North/South compass directions instead of colors.
I can be perceiving the entire universe 90° rotated (any angle really). And we'll never know because where the sun rises is 'east' in both our experiences when we communicate
