So I tend to only take higher paying work, which are a bit more rare. But there are definitely jobs if the skills are there! If you're looking only for fine art and gallery work, there are specific agents for that. I don't have experience with that road though. Most agents deal in commercial work.

And I've found there's a new push for traditional actually, specifically with children's books. The industry has a lot of digital art right now and I get publishers seeking me out for a real watercolor look. The issue I have is it takes me much more time and material cost than a lot of digital.

Hi! It depends on what kind of work you're looking for honestly. You want to find an agent that works in the genre you want to peruse. Mine is mostly kids lit, YA novel covers, and licensing for cards/ads etc. Those are the projects I'm drawn to and fit me.

I feel this so much. In 2022 I made more than I ever had and took 4 days off the entire year- no weekends. And then the taxes hit like you said. It made me rethink my whole career. I'm desperately trying not to do that again, but that requires being paid better. The industry doesn't allow for it
