When bad things happen to you, it's bad because it's happening to you specifically. If it was happening to someone else who is part of a group you don't like, it would not be bad.

I hope this brings about a change for this guy and he bows out of public life, but I have little hope. They don't possess any kind of universalist ethics. Bad things happening to you cannot be generalized to others because to them not all humans are in the same category.
