Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

In conflict zones, women are not only deliberately targeted through gender based violence but also suffer from the collapse of vital systems.

The consequences are catastrophic yet routinely sidelined in humanitarian responses

New analysis from @theifs.bsky.social adding more weight to the role that poor mental health - is playing in the rise in disability benefit claims.

This problem will only be addressed through a concerted prevention strategy that puts in place the building blocks of good health.
NEW: Over half of the rise in disability benefit claims since the pandemic comes from those whose main condition is a mental health problem.

Underfunding public health is a false economy - we need more investment in prevention if the NHS is to achieve the goals of its Long Term Plan.
News! The public health grant has today received its first significant real-terms increase after a decade of neglect, something we - and others - have long been calling for.

But it's still 26% down on 2015/16.

More analysis once allocations published later.👀

I worked with MOPAC on this a while ago, to help them consider how a consistent appropriate adults service can help to tackle health inequalities for some of our most vulnerable Londoners. I am so pleased to see this has come to fruition.
Providing eye-witness statements and giving voluntary police interviews can be extremely stressful for those who are vulnerable.

My new London-wide appropriate adult scheme will guarantee timely access to the right support, reducing delays in custody.
