Also want to shout out 2 other animated films I've seen recently: The Mononoke films based on the original anime series. Kaleidoscopic and maximalist animation with a beautiful color palette. People should talk about these films the same way they talk about Spider-Verse's animation

Absolutely loved Boys Go to Jupiter, an animated film with the aesthetic of an isometric video game. It's quaint and funny, about hanging out when the world sucks. There is a sad underbelly to the whole ordeal, a quiet apocalypse happening as life carries on in all its mundane sweetness.

Breathtaking does not even begin to describe the animated odyssey that is Son of the White Mare. Characters and creatures swirl, morph, and twist into new shapes and beings in some of the most beautiful animation you will ever see, as mythic folklore butts up against modernity.
