"The traffic model is the slave, not the master." Models are frequently full of faulty assumptions, and rarely understand actual human behaviour in the context of change and choices. Never let a traffic model tell you what to do. Decide what you WANT to happen, & design how to get there. #multimodal

Pssst, want to know what public money is really being spent on while Wes Streeting cancels another Labour pledge of building more hospitals?
£11 billion 840 million of State aid (public money) is being pumped into 74 deregulated Special Economic Zones (SEZs), that's £160 million per zone.

Is current politics all about theatre and pretense, rather than the analysis of the costs/benefits of a policy to find the most effective for the most people? Naive?@premnsikka.bsky.social @ceritheviking.bsky.social @michaellondonsf.bsky.social @europeanpowell.bsky.social

Get the impression that the UK conservation/archaeological/historic sites establishment is against restoration in principle? Why stop at a certain date in history? @annadillon.bsky.social @chartresfi.bsky.social @stroudstory.bsky.social @curatorkate.bsky.social

Wonder why the same (unthinking?) rationale of spending on road building and car ownership that induces more car use, is not applied to public transport: so that spending on bus/tram services, lanes and frequency can induce more bus/tram use?
