The federal government is taking over the California National Guard and deploying 2,000 soldiers in Los Angeles — not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle.

Physalis Peruviana aka Peruvian groundcherry aka golden berries can grow in LA! They like sunny well draining soil.
There are health benefits as well, they contain vitamin C and A, and other antioxidants.
Consider planting these in your garden if you live in a temperate zone.
