Oh my goodness! This little fledgling (catbird?) decided to come visit me on my side porch. She seems fine - no apparent injury - and seems to really like me. I went inside and she almost came in with me! That was 15 minutes ago. She's still there. 🥰

I've found the perfect diversion, for me, to drown out all the daily shitty news: Plan a vacation to New Mexico next year. I went there 30 years ago and swore to myself I'd either move to Taos or Santa Fe or at least take an extended vacation to do some serious exploration.

Just before I left the house yesterday to pick figs from Erin's yard across town, my neighbor handed me a bag of freshly picked figs. Erin's were HUGE (shown on left). Both are lip smackin' tasty.
I ended up with a total of about 2.5 lbs. which translates to plenty for experimenting.

This thread forced me to do a little exploring into white cane sugar processing. And YUCK! I favor Incauca Colombian turbinado sugar for sweetening drinks, but have used the white stuff in baking. I'm going to change all that by grinding the turbinado, pure whiteness be damned!

I've noticed that YouTube music uploads no longer indicate original release dates of songs. Apparently they're showing only the upload date.
