I'd like to hope so, but it's more than just 10 people. Don't confuse CEO for owner. Granted, the real number is probably only in the tens of thousands, but to fix it we're really going to have to convince the bulk of the public that capitalism itself is fundamentally broken to have a real fix.

It sucks and it doesn't, but we either figure out how to harness the benefits of AI for everyone, or those that own it are going to own and control everyone and everything else. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, our only choice is what wishes we ask for.
January 9, 2026 at 4:05 PM
But AI is not going to go away, even if this gen AI stuff doesn't work out, something better will come along, probably sooner than later. We going to have to choose between our idea of how money and economics work, or everyone but those owning the AIs is going to be dumped on the street.

I'm a software dev, write books, draw, tinker in all kinds of things. The AI tools we have now are at best an 80% solution, they get things wrong all the time, even simple things, and that 20% they can't do? That's where the real magic happens.

Won't argue there. Dems that think the private sector is the only way to solve problems are part of the problem. Profiteering will not save us. We need to be taking out those kind of Democrats in the primaries, so we don't need to hold our noses next November.
December 29, 2025 at 3:17 PM
But again, to do that, we need Democrats that have a spine and a firm support for the rights of the public because there will be a death howl from the corporate media if we go after the ghouls in the current administration. We need Dems that will stand firm against that and do the right thing.
December 29, 2025 at 2:28 PM
I'd like to see the agency disbanded, if Dems win the house they could at least pull all the funding for it. Hold hearing showing the evils they've done. Can't exactly force them to resign, but I hope a Dem DOJ in 2029 will aggressively prosecute them.
December 29, 2025 at 2:28 PM
We can hope. That will take Democrats with an actual spine who will call hearings on all the unconstitutional stuff going down and keep it in the news non-stop. It can happen. That's why we need to get good Dems through the primaries enough of them that the rest get scared to do the right thing.
December 29, 2025 at 12:33 PM
The hardest part is that even a Blue wave next year is not going to change much, we've got to sustain that through 2028 and make sure we primary all the soft Democrats along the way so that when we get a solid Dem President and trifecta, stuff will actually get done.
December 29, 2025 at 6:15 AM
Now is the time to make sure that doesn't happen. Find good Democrats in the primaries and vote for them. If enough of them win, even the corporate Dems will take notice. Don't wait till the general election and then complain about the sucky choices.
December 29, 2025 at 6:13 AM
Yeah, but then they just lower the bar for a crime, so that just standing on a street corner is a crime worth 90 days hard labor. Read up on how blacks were treated by the judicial system in the south since the civil war to see the reality of how well the 13th amendment protects against abuse.
December 29, 2025 at 6:10 AM
Absolutely. The primaries are for fixing the Democratic party, the general election is for saving the country.

Too many people get confused and try to punish the corrupt wing of the Democrats in the general election, and then we end up with Trump getting elected.

I will give Clinton points for leveraging his sleaze ( hanging with Epstein at all ) to punch back at Trump.
December 23, 2025 at 1:04 AM
I'm no fan of Clinton, but I don't think he's into kids either, putting the play into Trump's hands is about as close to exoneration as he can get, since Trump wouldn't hesitate to burn Clinton if he could, so if he doesn't, that probably means there isn't anything that bad on Clinton in the files.
December 23, 2025 at 1:04 AM
I was just shaking my head at that one. I'm on the atheistic side of agnostic myself, but always curious to talk about religion and why people are so willing to believe in all of it.
December 5, 2025 at 4:02 AM
I've actually had that conversation in the past with a few Christian conservatives, back before their current cultural meltdown. Had a few freely admit to it, that because they were Christian they could be bad so long as they said they ask for forgiveness before they died it was fine.
December 5, 2025 at 4:01 AM
They don't hate themselves, that would be a step up, they hate the message of Christ, or rather everything he said other than being forgiven for your sins so long as you believed in him. All they're in it for is the free ticket to heaven, no matter how they behave down here.

Tough talk is one thing, but the 'tough' governors who don't do anything but talk big? That's a pass for me. You've got masked goons running around abducting people without showing ID or cause and then holding them incommunicado in your states. You want me to see you as tough? Arrest them.

Have you seen what companies will pay for speaking fees? If you want to belly up to that trough you've got to demonstrate that you will sell your soul for the privilege.

They may get the rest of their terms in office, but their path to reelection may be a whole lot harder than they expect after pulling this stunt.
November 10, 2025 at 7:21 AM
I think they're vastly underestimating just how fully they are honking off voters. Primary voters are always far more engaged and I'd say far more likely to hold grudges. There's already a lot of energy for primaries against the old establishment candidates, this only adds fuel to that fire.
November 10, 2025 at 7:21 AM
Or he's planning to quit and just being quiet about it. He's already on the record complaining about how tough it is to be a senator and he really seems not to like the job.
November 10, 2025 at 7:17 AM
He'll be hit with a well funded primary and almost certainly lose. He's following the Sinema path of honking off all loyal Democrats in a purple state. He's either deluded enough to think he can win with just indy votes or that GOP voters will actually vote for him over one of their own.
November 10, 2025 at 7:17 AM
Heck, if they are all retiring, there is no plank being walked. They're just giving us all a big middle finger as they do a mike drop on democracy.
November 10, 2025 at 7:14 AM
We've got take this war to the primaries, and go after every Dem that's been willing to make life easier for Trump up and down the ballot. So many think we won't have the guts to do that, and we need to prove them wrong.
