Okay the solution that I had to look up is, I'm not kidding, drink like 40 potions of cold resist before entering the room.
This doesn't prevent his slow (so if i hadn't looked it up I would have dismissed it as pointless if i tried it) but he does inflict cold damage.

This is not possible on a melee focused character.

If anything, this way makes more sense.
The delinquent students need to spend more time in class actually learning, but honor students have grades good enough that they can afford to miss a few days and instead spend that time sucking and fucking.
