Perhaps the advice to "lower the perceived cost of the things you want to be doing" isn’t revolutionary. I just hadn’t seen it combined with an argument that the time you think you are going to spend on something is going to be part of how costly you think something will be.

I can see how visual scripting and AI use might be tangentially related. But I don’t think any of the issues present in AI use are present in visual scripting software.

I don’t think I was making my point very well. From the article, it seems like the creator of Citizen Sleeper didn’t write many lines of traditional code.

What I was trying to say is that visual scripting is still scripting and scripting is essentially a synonym of programming.

The headline is a little weird though, isn’t it? Like what about visual scripting is not programming? Is it because it doesn’t have to outward appearance of what most people think of when they hear programming?

And of course YouTube’s push for AI moderation has not tried to make this particular issue any better. Far would it be from me to point at AI as a solution to really any problem, but one might make the argument that LLMs _could_ be better at making a distinction between a thing and criticism of it.

Worse readings of these actions include an effort by YouTube to extract more money from gambling advertisements as they become the only way someone might be exposed to the topic on the platform.

That’s the issue with the sort of keyword based moderation that YouTube is working with.

Clearly the point is that gambling is bad and that these video games contain gambling. But YouTube seems unable or unwilling to differentiate between criticism of a thing and the thing.

I wish them all the best of course. But if I was a Ubisoft executive, Amazon would‘ve had to pay me to take over a studio developing a MOBA in 2025.

Both MW3 and BO7 feel like the result of Activision wanting to experiment with a two year cycle. Before MW3 they ditched that idea, probably realizing that it would massively cut into profits. If that’s similar to what actually happened, BO7 is just an echo of a bad call they made a long time ago.

I always said I would pay extra for the feature of a my phone being small. Of course, many people don’t see it as a feature and so it wouldn’t go over well to see the smaller phone cost more or even the same.
