Finished Mushroom Blues (The Hofmann Report Book 1): It ended better than I anticipated. I'm always here for a good story, and that's what I got. It's not a perfect read, but it's got some great qualities, and is worth the experience. Review soon! #SFF #fantasy #selfpublished

Mushroom Blues (Hofmann Report #1), 84%: Oddly enough, this bizarre little novel has grown on me. (If you've read that, you'll catch what I did there.) Pushing on toward the finale, and pushing really isn't necessary. I want to know what happens! #SFF

Swan Song, 41%: Reading this book as it is dystopian apocalyptic writing, usually my jam. It's going okay. But that said, it feels weak. Too many characters are just shallow caricatures. Depth is lacking. Interesting story, but not great yet. Continuing... #dystopian #SFF

Cute display at Barnes & Noble, Twin Falls, ID. Read the poster above the books. Particularly appropriate in light of the episode we dropped this morning. #DCC

Now reading Swan Song, by Robert McCammon, another classic dystopian apocalyptic read. Fans of Stephen King's The Stand recommended this 1987 novel to me. Off to a great start! #SwanSong #apocalyptic

Finished Final Girls, by Riley Sager. Amazingly entertaining, and packed FULL of twists. Kept me intrigued and hooked through to the end. Review comes out tomorrow! #FinalGirls #thriller #Mystery

Watched Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. At risk of sacrilege: I felt the film not only captured the essence of Mary Shelley's incredible novel, but IMPROVED upon it. The ending was superb, spectacular, moving! Exceptional cinematography, stellar performances. #Frankenstein

Final Girls, 78%: This has been an excellent read, with a creative & mystery-packed plot. Still not sure what will be fully revealed in the end, and that just makes it better! #thriller #mystery

Watched The Fantastic Four: First Steps this evening. IMO, it actually WAS the best of the Fantastic Four films we've received. I was entertained. #MCU #Marvel #FantasticFourFirstSteps

Bookmail! Thanks to R. C. Grabowski for the signed Collector's Edition of his gorgeous cyberpunk novel, L3X1. The box literally LIT UP as I opened it! The book is gorgeous, and I look forward to diving in. #scifi #cyberpunk #booktube

I have been on a tear lately, getting through great books. Today, I completed Mongrels, by Stephen Graham Jones. A fascinating, compelling, & touching take on werewolves. LOVED IT! Recommend! I look forward to putting out a review soon. #werewolves @sgj.bsky.social

I'm now into another novel by Stephen Graham Jones, Mongrels. Already 31% in. This brings a new and awesome perspective on werewolves. Loving the character work here! @sgj.bsky.social #horror #werewolves

Finished I Was a Teenage Slasher, by Stephen Graham Jones. That book was flippin' fantastic. All the trappings of a slasher film, but from a VERY different and fascinating, entertaining perspective. Compelling and terrific read! #horror

Watched Jurassic Park: Rebirth last night. Wasn't as good as some of the JP films, but wasnt' NEARLY as bad as some of the panning online suggested. I still enjoyed it. And ScarJo! Welcome to the franchise. #JurassicPark

I Was a Teenage Slasher, 50%: I truly wish I'd discovered Stephen Graham Jones sooner. His writing is a hoot! This book is another fantastic tale, rooted in the slasher genre, but so creative and thoughtful. And fun, in a dark, slasher sort of way. #horror #StephenGrahamJones

For my next audio read, I've begun I Was a Teenage Slasher, by Stephen Graham Jones. He's done it again, sucked me RIGHT into the story. SGJ is incredible! #horror #slasher

Finished The End of the World as We Know It, an anthology of short stories by various authors set in the world of Stephen King's The Stand. AMAZING. Loved nearly every story, and appreciated ALL of them. Fantastic to spend more time in this setting. #TheStand #horror #dystopian

Now beginning another indie fantasy read, Mushroom Blues by Adrian Gibson. This is the next novel I’m reading along with Derek (@DandJepicQ) and Matt (@GeauxReadBook). Looks fun! #fantasy

Finished The Monsters We Feed, by Thomas Howard Riley, a novel of Luminaworld. Excellent, & IMO superior to his first in this world, We Break Immortals. Enjoyed the themes much more. That said, the other novel is required reading before this one. @ornithopteryx @FilesFantasy

New Malazan world book has released, Erikson's second book in his Witness series: No Life Forsaken. I'm not this far yet, but glad to see it - it had been a wait! #Malazan

Halfway thru The End of the World as We Know It. This anthology keeps delivering, story after story. If you love Stephen King's The Stand, you HAVE to read this collection. It's a MUST! #TheStand #Dystopian

The End of the World as We Know It, 33%: These short stories set in the world of Stephen King's The Stand have been awesome! Only one so far that really wasn't all that for me, and it was still fine. Most have been brilliant! Plunging on in for more! #Horror #Dystopian #TheStand

Finishing watching 28 Years Later. Rewatched the 2 previous films as refreshers first. Fascinating what they've done with this franchise, top-tier work of zombie apocalypse media content. This was, hands-down, the best of the three films, though each has tons of merit. #zombies #dystopian #horror
October 24, 2025 at 1:03 AM
Now moving on to a short story anthology. This one is special, all stories (various authors) set in the world of The Stand (favorite King novel!). The End of the World as We Know It just came out 2 months ago. Tons of stories here to enjoy! #StephenKing #TheStand #horror #SFF
