This is the letter column for issue 16 of Grant Morrison's The Invisibles (1996). It's the issue in which Morrison asked his readers to charge a sigil, introducing many of them to the Austin Osman Spare/chaos magic version of sigils.

This is one of my favorite magical implements at the moment.
My rituals have often been based around a sense of place, but I have issues with fatigue. I can't visit my spots as much, so I've been recording them, looping the sound files and using it as ambient backgrounds for meditation and ritual.

That's my current project. Once I've built it, I've got to learn to play it - which I suspect isn't going to be easy.

That's odd. I've come across Rosaleen Norton before but was only vaguely aware of Nevill Drury till last week, when I picked this up in a second-hand bookshop in my fairly small home town.
It's not normally a place I associate with esoteric books, but the AOS cover caught my eye.

I've been reading up on cunning folk. They're often described as folk magicians - & there is folk magic in their books, but I've been surprised by the amount of ritual magic as well.

So this arrived yesterday - though I didn't open it till this morning. Steve Wilson was a chaos magician & Druid/Pagan. He also helped run the Talking-Stick moot in Hoban.
His book Chaos Ritual was one of my favorites. I'm interested in his take on the Robin Hood archetype.

The Uffington White Horse, looking down across the Devil's Punch-bowl to Dragon Hill.
Because of it's placement, you can't get a decent shot of the horse itself - you can only get a good view of it from above. Possibly linked to the Celtic Epona, or Rhiannon. Silt deposits date it to 1380 - 550 BC.

I've been reading about attempts to quantify mystical experiences such as the Hood Mysticism Scale. It's interesting in that it's a modern attempt to create a language with which to approach often indefinable experiences.
