I hear this all the time from people that like a thing but don't feel like they can call themselves a nerd/fan. What is the bare minimum of fandom? What do you have to prove to yourself or someone else to consider yourself a fan of something?

The guest's fandom is music. She's been to hundreds of concerts, been on the road, and has thought deeply about the meaning behind the songs...but she felt she doesn't know enough to be nerdy about it. The host was so amazing at the depth of fandom & actively said "yes, that's your nerd thing!”
