February - A scene from high society drama back in the day. Josephine Baker looks down an art deco staircase at fellow actress Billie Burke, who had previously shunned her at dinner. Josephine, unbothered, climbed the stairs and proceeded to upstage her as an adoring audience gives Baker a round of applause. Baker allegedly said to her audience, “I assume she belongs to the black-hating race.” November - A much more simple piece where my two characters, Andy and Tye, are wearing matching outfits, consisting of colour-block sweaters and jeans. They pose with a few squiggles drawn around them, which were animated in the original drawing. August - A woman is out picking raspberries. She has found a little mouse companion who she holds in her hand. The mouse enthusiastically offers her another berry for her basket, which the woman smiles at. April - A simple illustration of a half-abandoned brick building. Someone might still live there, with the wind chime near the door. July - A group of teens gather around a campfire as one frightened teen recounts a scary story of how he saw a monster in the woods. The other teens roll their eyes, laugh, or even seem a little concerned, but don’t seem to be taking it too seriously. In the foreground, out of sight from the teens, a pair of bony, human-esque hands pull apart the leaves of a bush to spy on the teens, waiting for a moment to pounce. The artist is stood next to a sign reading 2024. She wears a sweater and a skirt, and has a bright red bow in her long, brown hair.

January - Based off the Beatles song She’s Leaving Home, a girl is in her family’s kitchen, about to leave out the back door. She turns over her shoulder to look at the note she’s left on the table in the foreground. It’s a note to say that she’s running away. She had hoped it would say more… June - Two women in long dresses dance tenderly together in a field. A large cloud frames them and a warm summer breeze blows through their hair. March - a woman sitting on a wall, wearing an egg costume. She grins mischievously. May - a mermaid has fallen in love with a sailor, just a few days after he has sank with his ship. Despite the fact that he never talks and how his complexion is an unsettling grey, the fish really seem to like him, and that’s a fine thing to find in a man. December - A depiction of the Defying Gravity sequence from the musical Wicked. The wicked witch of the west, Elphaba, soars above an audience of Ozians, flying broom in hand, as she declares her stance against the Wizard of Oz. As the Ozians all shield themselves in fear, one member of the audience, Glinda, raises her hand up towards her friend, wishing her nothing but the best, but remains uncertain of the future. September - A landscape painting of Iceland, the reference being from Google Street View. The road leads up to a tall mountainous hill, with green farmer’s fields on either side October - Depicting the inner struggle the real life Christopher Robin had with his fictional counterpart, the real Christopher Robin stands on the left, with his toy bear in hand, while the fictional one stands on the right, with Winnie the Pooh at his side. The real Christopher Robin is portrayed in a more detailed style, while the fictional one is done in a style resembling the Disney branding and the original book illustrations.

I've been reading so much about the real-life Christopher Robin and his struggle with his fictional counterpart recently. The poor kid found himself constantly being compared to the character of Christopher Robin and had a very difficult time creating an identity of his own.
