I have been reading through all the Hercule Poirot novels by #agathachristie (I am on book 9) and I just love this little detective so much. He is just such a charming little man. I do also love Hastings. #booksky

Read 'Rejection' by Tony Tulathimutte last night. I kinda love how grotesque sex is described within the book. Absolutely vile but human. It's also a book that understands how technology has affected intimacy in an empathetic way rather than a degrading one. #booksky

Finished 'Martyr!' By Kevah Akbar. It's a great novel. It was very viscerally and texturedly human. I think great art often acts as both a mirror and window as a way to understand yourself and to understand others. And this novel does that quite well.

I think that we have so many #dracula adaptations and iterations because Bram Stoker's original ending was so bad. There is no real final confrontation with Dracula, just a fight with a bunch of mercenaries. Like in a way #nosferatu has more cathartic ending.

I'm late to the #hadestown #analysis but I just saw it and I find it telling that Hades is a fascist coded businessman who feels insecure about his wife cheating on him. And even Orpheus the idealist of the #musical ends up failing due to the trap of male insecurity.

Ellen Hutter is more of a helpless damsel than Mina Harker. Ellen is a woman who cannot escape the 'weakness' of her sex and submits to the allure of the foreign vampire. Mina is clever in spite of her sex and she is pure of heart but violated by the vampire. #nosferatu #dracula

Dracula and Nosferatu are different stories because one is about how the rich are gonna fuck you and your wife and you can't do anything about it and the other is about death is gonna cuck you in the end. Like the plague part is a nosferatu addition. #nosferatu #dracula

I have been very normal about seeing nosferatu(2024) twice and then reading the entirety of the original Dracula and then watching nosferatu (1922) and then I will watch nosferatu (2024) again. but like I have also considered seeing if I can find any of the stage musicals. #dracula #nosferatu
