7. She does not! I was thinking it over and there is no possible way for her to choose a favourite between Folli and Adomas. She and Folli are closer friends, but she and Adomas balance each other more. They're a great trio and seeing how they all learn from each other is a treat.

7. It would be weird if her favourite party member wasn't her son, so! Her son! It's a definite mixture of worry and pride whenever they're in combat situations together. She doesn't love seeing him (and his wonderful partner) in danger, but does feel pride at how they handle themselves.

6.1. Great that the faculty know they need to step up, but what? They're magically going to become competent over spring break? Loretta isn't holding her breath.

6. Our game takes place in Waterdeep, and we own a manor together which is, hilariously, around the corner from Eli's actual home. Eli remains with them because she cares about them, and their safety. She wants everyone to get back to their beds at night's end.

5. We established pre-existing connections, and then had a one-shot which brought everyone together. In-game, the events of the one-shot were about a year before our campaign picks up, where we've been brought closer together because of the one-shot, and through a side quest.

Played a little bit of Pokemon Emerald last night, trudged through another 30ish pages of the Southern Reach Trilogy - good weekend, quite fun. SO sore from reformer, my god.

Sunday we got together with one of my besties and her boyfriend at a Japanese brunch spot. Picked up a few "taster" sized bags of coffee from a local roaster, and then did some holiday shopping! Also snagged a Pokemon (Little Nightmares 2) and Frieren blind box for myself :)

5.1 PCs also learned after Year 1 that faculty could not be relied upon in the slightest and so Y2 mostly skipped that step entirely and just dealt with everything on their own, bringing in friends when they absolutely had to - weren't super keen on this due to the risk of death.

5. There was an orientation activity where the PCs were grouped up. Then she had classes with them, dorms were near one another's, they formed a study group, and at some point Loretta realized they were friends. Shit KEPT happening to them & nobody else was doing anything, so here we are!

😂 Listen! What she wants and what life brings to her aren't necessarily the same thing hahaha. And I think it's an interesting growth point for her character in terms of "okay, well I DO have this power, so now what am I going to do with it."

Eli has always been dutiful, except for that one time she wasn't, and it is interesting to see her on this journey of "I need to help my friends/family," "I need to help my adopted city," and, eventually, the more she does for Waterdeep, questioning the responsibility she has to her real home.

She isn't looking for power for power's sake, if she's using more powerful magic it's because the need has become apparent. I don't know if Eli *wants* to be in situations where potent magic is needed again, and there is absolutely not a world in which she won't do what's required to help the party!

Eli became as powerful a wizard as she was out of necessity - various people, factions, and agents of a god were out to kill her employer. In order to keep her, and her bestie Therin, safe, she had to become quicker on her feet and push the limits of her craft.

I imagine, at least, that while she doesn't currently have the magical strength/dexterity to use them, she does practice the casting movements for more powerful spells she used to have access to.
Interestingly, I don't know if she knows if she WANTS to be able to use them again.

I landed on "because wizards learn their magic, if they aren't actively exercising those muscles they lose them."
And she wasn't using them for quite a long time! Like anything, it needs to be built back up. I think even after the learning period, Eli still actively runs through practice drills.
