Deciding what kind of person you are based on how you look is definitely dumb. Admittedly a very common trait, but still extremely dumb. Actions and behaviors are what that should be based on.

Working out is also a choice.

To be clear, I'm not trying to scold or lecture. I just think both things are very valid things to be complimented because both things can be very hard work.

And by your logic, some people are just smarter than others via genetics and/or who they were born to.

Like makeup, or skin care, or hair care. These **are** choices being made to improve, or at least maintain one's beauty.

BUT I also understand wanting ones intelligence to be acknowledged over their looks. I do my best to point out and comment when people show off their Intelligence for that reason

While I hear what you're saying, and agree with the overall message, I disagree with the part where people don't "choose" to look good.

This is in part because my standard for beauty is "does it look like you take care of yourself" but also many people do take time out of their day for things (c)
