I mean, they're already lying. Xbox isn't dead. DF needs to stop peddling biased reviews with a sprinkling of technical analysis as objective facts. They continually downplay UE5 games running better on Xbox Series X compared to PS5. Games having lower settings for Series S isn't suddenly new.
December 23, 2025 at 3:17 PM
I'm not sure what you expect. DF constantly bemoans of Xbox being a dead platform, or at the very least talks about it negatively most of the time. Look at the most recent Xbox video, Silent Hill. Negative framing, clickbait garbage. So why would Xbox users show up to consume DF content?

@danielrubino.com This has been the case for a while now. Smartphones peaked a decade ago. The only foldable that was remotely interesting was Duo. Longer laptop battery life thanks to ARM is nice, but not world changing. VR will always be niche, and AR glasses are still too limited/creepy.

This is an insane take, especially given the context. We as a society should be working less, not more. Your inability to recognize both that, and the fact that your situation is completely different, is very telling.

Thanks Dan! Appreciate these posts.

D&W full wave and Secret Wars wave 2.

So you're going to issue a correction and edit the clickbait now that a real reporter has debunked this story, right?

Epic CEO: "RAM price increases will be a real problem" — as OpenAI et al. blow up RAM prices, threatening affordability of everything from Xbox to TVs and laptops
The AI fad is destroying the affordability of RAM, as demand from OpenAI, Google, and others blow up prices. Why is this happening?

Thank you for continually doing real reporting.

What's holding Valve back is that after years of improvements and bug fixes, the Deck still doesn't work out of the box. I'm savvy enough that I could figure it out. But you can't sell a device at retail that gets stuck in a boot loop out of the box.
November 12, 2025 at 8:55 PM
That's my point though. They give you no reason to keep reading. People read reviews to see if a game is worth their time/money. This person, before even talking about the game, is telling you in 2025 the entire genre is shit. Why read anything that comes after that?
November 4, 2025 at 9:56 PM
Why aren't they reviewing the game then? Instead they spend multiple paragraphs telling the reader that this game, and the entire genre, are effectively a waste of time and money. Why should anyone read what this person has to say after that point?

Right?! Like, Microsoft announced Play Anywhere in 2016. They've been telegraphing a shift to, or at least a greater emphasis on, PC for a long time now. SteamOS & Microsoft financials seem to have accelerated things, but I'm baffled as to why people are surprised/confused by the industry shifting.

Don't worry. It won't take long until you're printing things to fix stuff around the house.

Plot twist, we're still in a pandemic.
October 21, 2025 at 7:47 PM
I don't mind it, honestly. I'm making sure I get my money's worth out of Game Pass so I'm playing more smaller games. Already played Wheel World (eh...) and Herdling (cute!). Now I'm halfway through Jusant before that leaves the service. ID@Xbox stream next week! Don't sleep on that.

Not to mention that at no point does the advertising material make you think it'll play 360 games locally, for example. It only mentions PC games, supported titles, Play Anywhere games, etc. At best anyone making those sorts of comments are extremely ignorant.
October 20, 2025 at 6:15 PM
We just got one with the recent sale and it literally didn't work out of the box. Years later and Valve is still shipping a device with a broken OOBE. I was able to get it to work eventually thanks to reddit, but Jesus christ this is the product people are hyping up so much?
October 20, 2025 at 6:11 PM
This argument is completely disengenuous. Have you actually looked at the marketing material? It all calls out PC games, select games, Play Anywhere games, etc. At no point does it give the impression that it can play 360 games locally, for example.
October 19, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Sure, but who's willing to drop $1000 and not do literally any research on what the device is and how it works? I would reckon that is a nonexistent person.
October 19, 2025 at 3:57 AM
To everyone replying to this saying you don't see them in your specific store, what other changes are you seeing? Reduced toy isles. Electronic sections taking up more floor space but fewer products. An immediately abandoned deal with Ulta. Etc etc. What I see is big box retailer business declining.

My understanding is MS does Just In Time manufacturing with Xbox consoles. So they don't put in an order for another production run until stock is sufficiently low across the board. Also, due to tariffs, they may be waiting for GTA6 to really make a ton more.
October 12, 2025 at 7:56 PM
It's a big jump in a short period of time, yes. But it's not a scam. For GPUlt to be worth it you need to play the equivalent of about 5 full priced games. If you're not playing at least that many games, you shouldn't be subscribed to that tier. GPUlt is for people that play ~1 new game every month.

Part of it is also games media and their PS bias imo. (Influencers/YouTubers is a whole other thing.) Outside of yourself, Xbox Era, maybe a couple others, most got review codes for PS4 so that became their default. Now none of them use Xbox enough to either know the ecosystem or care about it.
