Sprite filtering is awful, but I can think of several texture packs that absolutely improve the experience of playing those games on an emulator (the ones for Muramasa Wii, Path of Radiance and the Tales of series HD packs made by the Lifebottle team, to name a few)

The ship stages are as fun as ever, but the missions on the ground are really boring and repetitive with their objetives. They also take away from the ship stages, because now most of those are in space, while the planet missions are on the ground, it kills the visual variety of the fun parts
