The award, issued in 12 tranches, would give Musk an additional 1% of Tesla stock for every $500B in value added to its market cap. (According to terms of the plan, Tesla would be valued at $8.5 trillion at the end of the award period). Musk takes the stage in triumph.

Musk's ambitions are full of regulatory hurdles. Case in point: NHTSA has made an inquiry into Tesla's relaunched "Mad Max" mode, which has been seen exceeding speed limits and aggressively maneuvering traffic. The Biden Administration took a hard line against similar features.
