To the one student who said that they didn't learn anything when completing the creative assignment in my course, but who also said that they definitely won't forget the organism they wrote about...

Today in class I was explaining Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) and had to clarify and say...
"No- not THAT Epstein."

In their discussions about autism, I haven't heard a certain government mention advanced age of fathers. This is an established risk factor.

It seems like they will point the finger at anyone except their fellow men.

I'm just gonna say it:
I love rodents.

Chipmunks. Those cheeks!
Beavers. Those tails!
Capybaras. Those chunks!

Even mice and rats are pretty cool.

How can you not love them?!

Someone at church saw me without my husband and asked "Where is the boss?"

I quickly responded,
"I am the boss."

They laughed awkwardly and I laughed like an evil maniac.

In all honesty, my husband and I are equal partners. Co-bosses.

Bought a fancy espresso machine for my birthday this year ❤️
Wow. These beverages are amazing. What a treat!
Let's hope these caffeine boosts make me extra productive on my sabbatical.

I was in the middle of a bunch of data analysis when my six-year old saw one of my spreadsheets and said...
"WHAT!? Your work is just numbers?"

He was so appalled.

I started painting a powder room in my home this past week. I began during a break from grading.

Well I finished the bathroom... But not the grading. 🙄

They talk about science, coursework, careers, life, faith, and other good stuff.

Oh the grading!

Remembering that time this semester when I was reviewing the complex roles of inflammation and immunity in cancer.

I love exploring the tumor-promoting nature of inflammation, but I always struggle to spell the word "resemble". 🥴

Today I realized that PCR tubes in the hands of a Barbie would totally look like 15-ml tubes and now I want to buy a science Barbie.
You know, for science.

Last week I sat in a clinic waiting for an X-ray and couldn't help but take a photo of this hanging in the hallway.

I lost count of all the anatomical mistakes.

Seriously, what is going on with those arms? And teeth?! And where are the shoulders!
