Maybe I do have some affinity for sexist language that I need to explore and overcome and that's a personal failing of mine.

How is that pedantic? Seems like an important distinction between "YOU do this" and "IF you do this", doesn't it? Because you're saying I said the first, when it's in writing that I said the latter.

If people want to get hung up because a word is 'gendered' even though it wasn't being used in a gendered way in order to avoid a whole-ass point, that's your fucking prerogative, but it's an annoying one.
