Carved in tablets as long as four thousand years ago, The Epic of Gilgamesh tells the tale of Gilgamesh King of Uruk and Enkidu as they deal with Sumerian politics, undergo strange sexual rites, and partake in epic quests. Worth a read, in spite of the somewhat maudlin tone of the second half.

The Hafele-Keating experiment (1971) demonstrated time-dilation as predicted by Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Researches using atomic clocks flew around the world and compared the time with pre-synchronized clocks on the ground. The clocks travelling at high speed had run more slowly. #relativity
