The source software of the PlayStation Classic contains a list of games that may have been planned for the console at one point. Mega Man Legends was among them, alongside the first two Crash Bandicoot games. It is unknown why these games did not make it into the system's library.

Although most of the returning characters in Mega Man X: Command Mission have unique facial textures made specifically for the game, Axl does not. His facial textures are reused from his debut appearance in X7, resulting in him having much larger eyes than the rest of the cast.

A leaked prototype of Mega Man 7 showed that the previous miniboss of Shade Man's stage earlier in development was a hovering humanoid robot. However, an early sprite of the final miniboss, VAN Pookin, is also in the prototype, suggesting that this early miniboss was just a placeholder.

Masahiro Yasuma, director of the mainline Mega Man Battle Network games, stated that MegaMan.EXE's face guard originated from an interview with CoroCoro - the idea was that Lan would be able to commentate during the battle while MegaMan uses the face guard to concentrate on the battle.

In Mega Man 2, Heat Man has a strange bug involving the Crash Bomb. Using the Crash Bomb on him while he's charging at Mega Man will cause his AI to freak out, moving left and right rapidly around the area of the explosion, repeating the charge until he hits a wall.

Page 82 of Nintendo Power issue 55 talks about the Mr. X stages of Mega Man 6. In the section covering the stage bosses, it cites Centaur Flash as an efficient weapon against the Power Piston (section 2). This is misleading, as the Power Piston takes no damage from the Centaur Flash.

Some time before the cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 was officially announced, Hideki Ishikawa made a blog post announcing an upcoming Rockman DASH 3, which would be split into two parts. This was later edited to clarify that Hideki wrote the post while drunk, and saying not to believe him.

Early on in Mega Man Zero's development, the main antagonist was meant to be the real X, instead of Copy X like in the final game. This was altered thanks to Mega Man X6 being released without Keiji Inafune's involvement, resulting in a huge change of plans for both the X and Zero series.
