seems incongruent to highlight the increase in unemployment claims for Federal workers, while claiming the same spending is going on YoY. it would suggest that layoffs have not shown up in the spending yet or that amount is still lower than it would have been as a baseline. salaries up, heads down

It's probably more like 10 to 1 overall actually. Depends on the military hardware. Japan, South Korea, Philippines will be under enormous pressure to drop their alliances with the US. And the US won't be able to keep up their commitments on any military guarantees.

Have you even looked at China's military, let alone their manufacturing capacity? If the US empties its stockpiles for Ukraine, then has limited resources to deal with China invasion of Taiwan. And China also outproduces the US 3 to 1 in next gen fighters, attack subs, and destroyers.

He's partly correct. It began mostly under Clinton with bringing China into the WTO and NAFTA to dismantle and outsource US manufacturing. People wanted to engage in the economics of comparative advantage to the extreme.
