Autistics don't need "social skills training," not unless non-autistics are ALSO being trained in autistic social expectations. When we only use neurotypical norms and expectations, autistics will always look “deficient” & neurotypicals will always look “capable.”

“I hear about masking but I don’t really understand it.”

Masking is checking out from or deprioritizing ourselves, & instead reflecting back to others what we think they want.

Forcing ourselves to endure painful sensory overwhelm is a behavioral examples of masking (vs a definition of it).

We’re moving! Looking forward to seeing you at our new office starting in mid-April. We’ll be able to have more control over the sensory environment, there will be lots of plants, and of course our therapy kitty Sebastian two days a week!
