I made a scenesona to match with my friend Claramay for a project I'll be showing more of in the coming days. Her name is Pumpkin Patch, real name Jackie, and she's an indie musician and clubber.

So, who is Karakida Hanto? An angry, reactionary man, trying to find closure on the trauma that claimed his mother, and the only other family he had left. When allowed to let his anger simmer, he's an intelligent and caring person. Quick to panic, but chooses a future with friends than be alone.

Of course, it's only because he has friends that are willing to challenge his beliefs and support him that he's able to make this leap in becoming a better person.

Initially, Hanto doesn't understand why Shouma hid this for so long. He trusted Shouma, so why would he hide the truth like this? In this calmer state, he's finally able to recognize his own behaviors and how his reactionary behavior has affected his friend, and so we get reconcilliation.

It's only in these quieter times, where Hanto takes a chance to stop and think things through, that he's able to overcome this weakness and come to a far more positive and accurate conclusion. Hanto's not an idiot-- but he's easily blinded by his reactionary response to Granutes.

He's easily flustered when pressed, and will quickly become belligerent, especially related to granutes. It triggers a very reactionary, angry side for Hanto, where he will choose self-destruction and isolation in the moment.

However, Hanto has a pretty nasty habit that comes from his upbringing and his traumatic history. He's a survivalist and has always needed to make quick decisions to fight to survive, while the whole "a monster took my mom" thing festered in his mind. Under pressure, he's prone to rash decisions.

Hanto's blowup and reconcilliation feels like a natural development of how he thinks about things. The show makes it pretty clear how intuitive he is, and his way of thinking things through. It's natural to see a benevolent figure as "one of you"
