I don't really get what they think is the benefit of not applying the rules. If they want it to be spotfests matches, just make it Tornado Tag and don't bother with the tags all together. I like FTR as well !

Yes I also learned about the Amarillo territory from it because Stan Hansen started there after The Funks recruited him. I didn't know about this territory I thought Texas was exclusive to the Von Erichs before reading the book.

I'm only at the point where he talks about his first Japan tour in the mid 70s. In the beginning chapters he talks a lot about his American Football days, I didn't understand everything since I don't know anything about this sport. Appart from this I like it so far !

Yes you are right, I also read in Stan Hansen book that he suspected some sponsors he knew were tied to the yakuzas.

Can't know for sure but it's possible. I wonder how involved Giant Baba was with the yakuzas. I heard Dutch Mantell say in a video he could tell AJPW was tied to the yakuzas when he went there in 1980.
