It ain't much to look at, but I've got "coins" and "collectibles" working in my little fun side project, plus tracking/saving progress and whether you've completed the tutorial or not.

I'd noodled out a version of this last year, but I'm rewriting it from scratch so that I actually understand it.

The only way I survive coding as a designer is by treating problems and errors like a puzzle the engine has set for me.

… and then it often feels like negotiating with the rest of the game engine, and I’m trying to trick it into accepting an answer.

Stared at Lua all day. Getting a server event and a remote event to share relative information has been annoying — I’m gonna have to try another method tomorrow after work.

On the plus side, it’s been far more useful to roll my own data management this time around.

Waking up too early results in one of two things: Cleaning, or impotently staring at a code problem. (Which is exacerbated because I'm not an engineer.) So, obviously I'm doing the most unfocused thing possible — cleaning for 10 minutes, then sitting and staring at the screen.

Rinse, repeat.

It’s interesting watching the blowback for Unity. It’s almost like IPO’ing changes the objectives of a company overall.

There’s a not so subtle difference between generating value and extracting it.
