Creative ideas go a long way. Good art is everywhere, but originality is rare. It's easy to compare yourself to other artists and feel inferior because you can't make what they make. But you forget that they can't make what you make either.

I just found you through youtube, and while that is definitely true, I have to agree with @cfox73.bsky.social's reply -- Your art is extremely unique and compelling for its own reasons, even to those of us who are more immersed in art communities. I find you and your art very inspiring

Wow thank you!! ^_^ Yeah I put a lot of thought into this and I'm glad it shows. The medium is wax-based colored pencils and watercolor.

In our car-centric society, banning someone from driving is an enormous reduction in their independence and quality of life, so it only feels fair to let disabled people drive with whatever accommodations they need. And that's generally what we do.

And just to head off a potential response, I don't think banning those people from driving at all is a reasonable solution, considering that plenty of people with minor impairments are allowed to drive, like Deaf, colorblind, mobility issues, etc.

I mean, think of someone who is prone to panic attacks or dissociation due to sensory overload. I'd much rather have that person be deaf and mentally present behind the wheel rather than hearing and mentally incapacitated.

It's totally irresponsible to be distracted while driving. The website I linked above (EndDD.org) agrees. But blocking out sound isn't necessarily a distraction or impairment, it can also be a disability accommodation that reduces distraction for some people.

I agree, I think in America we have a deep culture of complacency about unsafe driving. Most people don't really consider the fact that they're piloting a 2-ton death machine, and maybe we shouldn't have an infrastructure that demands everyone to pilot 2-ton death machines to get anywhere.

Personally, I almost always wear headphones in most public settings to avoid sensory overload, and in those situations I do find myself instinctively elying more on sight and vibration to be aware of my surroundings. I feel like it wouldn't be much different while driving.
July 27, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Yeah that's why I think it's not necessarily equivalent. But on the other hand, someone who is used to wearing noise-cancelling headphones frequently in a variety of situations (to cope with sensory issues or something) might be similarly adapted.
July 27, 2025 at 5:05 PM
Well, if everyone was Deaf, then our infrastructure *would* accommodate it, because we would design it to do so.

That's the thing about disabilities, isn't it? It's only a disability if it's rare enough that society isn't built to accomodate it. (see: Social Model of Disability)

You could host full quality images on your own website, and everytime you post an image on social media, include a link to the full quality version

A hearing individual wearing noise cancelling headphones may or may not be the same, if they're used to relying more on auditory cues, they might be less careful. But it seems like it's not that unsafe actually.

Just looked it up, and yeah, Deaf people driving is not only legal but proven safe. There isn't a higher risk of accidents associated with Deaf drivers. www.enddd.org/end-distract...

Don't Deaf people drive too? I agree it's a safety hazard but I wonder how Deaf people deal with that
