I'm so glad I did continue with it because pirateaba does excellent character work, and really knows how to use stakes. She does stuff in this book that no sane editor would have letter her do at a major publishing firm. She also mixes some cozy vibes with traditional swords and sorcery.

I almost bounced off this book. It's super long and it didn't hook me well right out of the gate. The main reason I kept reading was how much I had in common with the first protagonist presented.

I'm often sad about the state of our timeline and what the internet has become. It's easy to forget that the modern age has also provided audiences and opportunities for things like The Wandering Inn to exist. I think that's amazing.

Apparently for that he should have highways, in every state, named after him 🙄
