SUPERMAN lives! A blockbuster that fully embraces the playfulness and optimism of comic book origins. Yes, the action is ridiculous amounts of fun, but it's the heart that shines brightest. This is a Superman that perfectly embodies being both super *and* a hero. I loved it!

F1® THE MOVIE is a lot of fun. Joseph Kosinski brings his thrilling spectacle and fantastic understanding of stakes to the many riveting racing sequences spanning its admittedly overlong runtime. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it looks and sounds spectacular. Damson Idris!

MATERIALISTS thoughtfully and sensitively explores relationships as a transaction and an emotional connection. Its resolution feels too neat, but Celine Song packs the film with a lot of heart and laughs. Loved the trio of performances, but Chris Evans in particular blew me away.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - THE FINAL RECKONING plays like a greatest hits in the best way. A gleefully bombastic ride that feels more "impossible" than any other entry. From the reverence for the franchise's history to Tom Cruise's all-time great stunts, it's an exhilarating finale.

When thinking about war films that focus on being an immersive filmmaking piece that plants the viewer in the midst of terror, it's serviceable. It never reaches the heights of films like DUNKIRK or 1917, but at least it's a significant improvement over Garland's last two films.

For brief glimpses, the film delves into how dangerous and counterproductive the "hoo-rah" mentality can be in delicate scenarios, but even that gets muddled by the end. Otherwise, it doesn't want to sway anyone's perspective on war conflicts, just experience the brutality of it.

WARFARE is exactly what you expect: more of a sensory experience than a well developed story. It executes its real time portrayal of a mission gone wrong with spectacular sound design, but lacks engaging characters and doesn't set itself apart from other war films.

To celebrate the release of THE MONKEY, I'm in a monke mood!

Here's a list of the 66 films I've seen that prominently features a monke (or any animal from the primate family) ranked on how much I like their use of monke.

(I'll keep updating this list)
