And unfortunately that is why we need VAR.

Botman injured? Not even on the bench.

PSR does not allow teams outside the big six to regularly compete. It's designed to maintain the status quo, it's not basic accounting at all! These are rules purely and simply designed to protect the established order.
February 8, 2026 at 10:38 PM
The spend when the takeover happened was necessary to save our PL status. Otherwise we'd haved faced relegation thanks to Ashley's regime, years of underinvestment was finally remedied. Our subsequent net spend of ~£100m over 4 windows is tiny compared to the teams we're expected to compete with
February 8, 2026 at 10:29 PM
How many windows did we not spend in? Our net spend in the last 5 windows is probably+£100m. That's not progressive, that's standing still compared to the rest of the PL. Undeniably rigged.
February 8, 2026 at 9:51 PM
We exist in a rigged football environment. Aston Villa will not compete next year, just as we have failed to this year. Squads outside of the big 6 will not be permitted to establish themselves and disrupt the status quo.
February 8, 2026 at 9:47 PM
Absolute nonsense. Utterly shameful to aliken our current situation to the Steve Bruce days.
February 8, 2026 at 9:41 PM
It's not Eddie's fault. It's the environment our football club exists in. The rules are rigged. We can't retain our very best players because of PSR, we can't expand our squad by offering competitive wages because of PSR, we can't challenge for English and European trophies because of PSR.

Militant (moronic).
February 8, 2026 at 9:31 PM
I meant Howe wouldn't have sole approval on the CEO. Mitchell was a joke, if someone brought in a chancer like him I'd stand my ground too.
February 7, 2026 at 10:18 PM
So we'd have been better off with Mitchell? Nonsense. His handling of the Trafford situation and the Isak contract management show the bloke was unprofessional and incompetent. Howe was right to stand his ground, he knew we had wrong un.
February 7, 2026 at 10:16 PM
Ashworth going was nothing to with Howe. Mitchell was a disastrous appointment, I'm not sure how that was Eddie's fault.
February 7, 2026 at 10:03 PM
Howe would not approve the CEO, that's PIF. Howe definitely did not have a say on Paul Mitchell coming in. Too much was put on Howe last summer when PIF, Mitchell et al disappeared.
February 7, 2026 at 10:01 PM
He's a good bloke taking the flack for everyone else. We're in the position we're in because of last summer. The DoF farce, the Isak saga, the lack of interest from PIF. We were not prepared to challenge on four fronts and unfortunately Eddie's taking the heat.
February 7, 2026 at 9:41 PM
Who also went and lost at home to Brentford too?
February 7, 2026 at 9:05 PM
Hopkinson's Talksport interview was embarrassing. He hasn't done anything and doesn't give the impression he's going to do anything either.
February 7, 2026 at 8:39 PM
We are not capable of challenging in the CL, PL and cups. Something has to give when we can only play at 75% against a Brentford team who are better than all but one of the CL teams who we've played at home this season. Brentford are not better coached, they're just not exhausted.
February 7, 2026 at 8:09 PM
Crowd have been worse than Trippier.
February 7, 2026 at 6:34 PM
We are knackered and it shows. Crowd need to step up, really subdued and it's not helping.
February 7, 2026 at 6:25 PM
Newcastle's problems this season are not Eddie's creating. Why there seems to be a growing pile-on, I have no idea.
February 6, 2026 at 8:17 AM
The team's problems are not because of Howe. 1. Last summer's lack of DoF and senior support left Eddie in the lurch. 2. The Isak situation dragged on way too long. 3. PSR means we aren't equipped to play Champions League and compete in the other cups. Our problems haven't been recent or short-term.

I can see BDB coming in as a third CB. Playing similar style to the Arsenal semis last year.
January 28, 2026 at 1:39 PM
😂 Although some people want to blame him for everything, very little of what has gone wrong this season is Eddie's fault.
