Yeah I'd fully agree with that. Playing through the years, my friends and I would always be drawn in by where the story could go, and were always disappointed by where it went. I mained NEs since wc3 and Shadowlands put the entire lore in the grave and I don't think they can ever recover.

The cinematics / books are still pretty good even if it didn't translate to in-game narrative, though the last book I read was Illidan / expansion Shadowlands so things could have changed in both directions by now
