I feel like the "all addons are dying" narrative comes more from the playerbase than content creators. I'm sure there are some videos out there peddling this narrative but I have mostly just seen content creators saying "hey temper your expectations".

It really is a very special game. I recommend doing as much side content as possible. There isn't really any filler content and most of the sidequests in the game are as interesting as the main throughline.
