More rando shots from the loft ladder work. It turned out okay, and now we're finishing the loft so the kids can use it to vape or give each other tats or whatever they do these days.

Props to www.acadiastairs.com for the pivot/wheel hardware and www.bairdbrothers.com for the lumber and treads.
Rough cut ends of the side-rails. Kind of like a capital H with long legs. Sans-serif. The curves are gnarly at this point. A plywood template clamped on the rough side-rails, in preparation for smoothing out the handholds with a router template bit. The room where it happens -- a blue room with white trim, and we're looking at the corner where the first ladder is being assembled. There's one side rail extending out of view with a bunch of treads attached by cross dowel nuts. They're just hanging out, waiting for another side-rail to join the party. Another shot of the half-assembled ladder heading up out of the blue room and into a loft that you can't see much of. There's a few exposed rafters in dark wood with white walls. There's the remaining side rail for the ladder patiently waiting against the wall for the photo shoot to end so assembly can begin.

From 2023: Pivoting loft ladders from hard maple. Pre-finished stair treads cut and sized to fit. Rubio finish on the rest, handrail routed from the side rails, cross-dowel nuts for assembly.
maple side rails, maple treads, early test fit on my workbench in my basement sawdust storage room. A tracksaw and many scrap boards on a workbench, with some longer maple ladder side rails and some curved handhold cutouts have appeared. There's tools on the wall and everything looks better because we're standing far enough away. More progress on the side-rails! There's four of them laying on saw horses in a basement workshop. They almost look symmetrical and intentional and again, distance improves the look. Side view of the finished ladder installed, with bright red powder-coated pivots and rolling hardware in a turquoise/blue room with white trim and some questionable bi-fold closet doors behind it.
