working on a pattern for these reusable gift bags for a local sustainability workshop I’ll lead in Dec. Made from #upcycled & scrap fabric. Wouldn’t it be fun if it had a gift log like the old library cards that showed how many times a book had been borrowed? #sustainable #reduce #reuse

It looks so simple but I’ve been working on this for weeks… ahem… months… on and off. Finally I can see the finish line!!! PTFE dental floss on “treeless” polypropylene paper. Yes, dental floss, people!! #more #sciart #fineart

Wesleyan Potters’ 70th Annual Sale is almost here… I sent a bunch of work this year - framed & unframed geodes, journals, and rocks from the plasticene. Plus you’ll find hundreds of other beautifully made items from talented local artists. Def check it out if you’re near Middletown, CT!! 🐡

progress on this PTFE floss embroidery!! Not only do these take forever (been working on this 3 weeks now) but soon PTFE will disappear from dental floss and these will be collector’s items 😎 Already, I’m stockpiling it like Elaine hoarded the sponge on Seinfeld. Anyone? Anyone? 😬 🐡

just sold my first of these sculptures i’m using as substrates for epiphytes… so excited to make more!! The sculpture itself is made from reclaimed telephone and stereo wires and Teflon tape. More on the philosophy behind the work on my site: www.kalliopimonoyios.com/home/pattern...

Colorado, listen up! Just visited Jesse Mathes’ mid-career retrospective at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO and it is a show stopper. If you’re close you must go! Her work should be at the MOMA it is so conceptually and so technically good. Go see!! #art #colorado #jewelry

Insta served this up to me this morning. Other countries are courting our scientists with promises of stable funding, secure jobs, and academic freedom. We lose our smartest at our peril. 😔
