We're not there anymore. Most of those folks have aged out of the customer base. So redirecting to the website or suggesting automated tasks that could be accomplished in the website does little other than waste customers' time

There was this "in between" phase where people not comfortable with the Internet still used the phone for support tasks that could be automated away.

Yeah I think people mostly squirm because with so much FUD around the subway that people confuse "subway isn't good and should do better" with a "public transit is a failure" or "I'm better off with my current car lifestyle than on the NYC subway"

My current taken is probably similar enough to my thinking in 2017:

The Rainbow Platform

There are red lines where I will absolutely use a litmus test to condemn someone who is "betraying" conservative ideas. But past that, we must allow for a wide range of progressivism of view.

First by writing this out:
The Evolution of Bernie Sanders on Race
Bernie Sanders flip-flopped too, and that’s okay. People keep mentioning Hillary Clinton’s shifting on issues as a mark against her, but as she explains, this

Seeing the patterns of Black, Feminist, and LGBT activists, I was starting to see it as a more symbiotic dance between getting meaningful things done and shifting the Overton window.

So I wasn't so much shifting to the radical side as much as feeling that dichotomy itself WAS how progress is done.

There was always this tension between "incremental progress" activists and "radical" activists. Up till then, I had almost always sided with the incremental progress side, feeling that the radical side is too naive.
