#microsky #microbiology I will be teaching a 2-week summer course on Microbial Ecology in Alaska. The course will have a 3 day field trip to some of the most spectacular glaciers and mud volcanos in Alaska. UAA is open enrollment university so anyone can join but space is limited.

Check out our new paper that just came out. We looked at iron related genes in a glacial influenced river. We found that in the freshwater microbes employ Feo system but in an estuary they produce siderophores but the type changes throughout the year.

Happy to finally share this work. This is our 1st step to creating a sustainable bioprocess to obtain REE. We found S. onidenisis was able to extract more REE from healy coal but acid leaching worked better on Wishbone hill coal pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....
