THIS! 👏 Monopoly utilities continually jacking up rates AND asking customers to foot the bill for the devastating wildfire damages that THEIR equipment has caused is insanity.

Our regulators and politicians keep letting the utilities treat ratepayers like an ATM machine and it needs to end.

It doesn’t take a PhD in electricity rate design to understand that out of control utility spending leads to out-of-control rate increases.
And pushing wildfire costs onto ratepayers instead of holding utilities and their shareholders accountable is a very bad idea.

The (@) californiaPUC, in a ‘fact sheet’ says that rates were supposed to go up 9.1% for all residential customers starting October 1st.

The monopoly utility can charge whatever they want and we end up with a cozy, crony form of capitalism that hurts consumers and the environment.
Relying on big, for-profit utility companies and their, poorly-managed and overly centralized grid is not working for California.
We need a Re-Volt. The time to make real change is long overdue. When will lawmakers step in and truly reform the system?

Instead of sticking customers with the bill, it’s time to invest in a more resilient, consumer-focused energy system that doesn’t depend on fragile, fire-prone wires.
