the fact that news outlets keep reporting Israel's continued attacks on Gaza as a "test of the ceasefire" is absolutely absurd to me. The ceasefire, isn't being tested, it's being broken. It never was in actual effect, stop phrasing it otherwise.

Every single federal worker should be protesting right now. They don't want to give you back-pay? Don't work. They don't get to deny your pay while greenlighting their own when you're the only one doing your job. The government only has as much power as the people give it, stand up.

I maintain that it is absolute ludicrous that during a government shutdown the only government employees who seem to be getting paid are congress ie the people who are the cause of the shutdown. that has to change.

hot take but the only government employees who should be affected by government shutdowns should be the politicians refusing to be mature adults and do their job for the people. Park employees, researchers, every government employee with no say deserves to keep working with pay.

it's too bad they started shoving generative ai that was unethically made, not ready for mass rollout, and relies on predatory, destructive infrastucture right away because there are features I'd be open to use but its entire existence is tainted and I refuse to use it

How angry do you think they'd be if we started turning all the kirk memorials into gun violence memorials? dont have to take down or change anything they've already put up, just also start including pictures and names of other victims. keep the focus on the whole picture.

I was really appreciating Aaron Parnas but it feels like recently his content has been increasingly click-baity and TMZ gossip coded and I get that the drama this admin is causing is very much not in line with the actions of any respectable administration but goddammit we can't stoop to their level.

I find it interesting how saying "happy pride" is somehow shoving queerness down the general populace's throats but saying "happy Ramadan/easter/black history month/cancer awareness month/etc" is not also shoving something cultural down their throats

yesterday I learned that brits spell "curb" "kerb" and I will never forgive them for this. You can have your s's over z's, your ou's where all that's needed is an o, that's all fine and dandy, in fact can be fun. but "kerb" is wrong and I refuse to acknowledge it any further.

i was thinking about how common it is for humans to love sharing very dark stories. from folk tales to dramas to fanfic, humanity seems to have a strong interest in angst and death and grief and suffering and it made me wonder: do other species have the same fascination?

i find it wild that it's extremely difficult to find a dog breed matching quiz that takes into consideration what you want the dog for. A useful quiz would let you select for companionship, hunting, protection, herding, etc. That matters way more than size imo.
